Deception Island is a mountainous, horseshoe-shaped island located off the coast of Antarctica in the South Shetland Islands. This wildlife sanctuary serving as a habitat to eight nesting seabirds, an active volcano, and the largest group of penguins in the Antarctic Peninsula (and possibly the world!) While enjoying the breathtaking views from the pool deck, The Waterfront, or even your balcony, you can get a memorable glimpse of chinstrap penguins waddling about, slipping in and out of the frigid waters. In the distance you’ll see a picturesque shot at of Deception Island’s active volcano. It geothermal heats the island’s black-sand beach and warms the nearby water, providing a unique landscape in an otherwise frozen world.
